Choosing Color at the Front Door

Moving the pots, below, a mere inch wider will make the doorway wider.
.
Staining the pots the same color as the siding, and moving the pots 3" wider creates an entirely new entry focusing on the custom door.
.
What is the right answer?
.
Don't know without seeing the interior.

REPETITION,  is your best friend in a small space.

In the Daily Mail Associated Press pic, above, I forgot about the topic/article I clicked on when I saw these pots.  Elegant, understated, quiet, no need to show-off, seemingly bespoke.
.
Ironically, & counterintuitively, designing small spaces is tougher than acreage.

Don't those dinky little pots in front of doors just drive you nuts!!

I like the way the pots bring you into the front door but they do seem to make the area tight. I'm not sure if they should be centered under the lights or off center as pictured but I would not want them to distract from that beautiful door.

I like the pots in their natural colour but I do think they should be centred under the lanterns. It will also open the space so the door is the focus.

I would place the pots under the lanterns as well, but my choice would be to use metal, perhaps lead, or dark zinc pots….something that ties into the hardware, yet compliments the gorgeous door.

The pots are lovely and should be located "off center"; the foliage is too high to rest, comfortable, under the lights. It would look foolish.

Here's what I think!

They are "perfectly imperfect"! They just feel so right....everything about them! Not so common in NYC!!!!

My new "mantra" "perfectly imperfect"!
Oh....I guess it isn't new to me at all......all these years...I guess I just didn't know the way to describe it!
