"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living
alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You
have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are
here to risk your heart.
You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or
betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near,
let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples
falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness.
Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could." - Louise Erdrich

Much too lazy for a vegetable garden in the front yard, though turf was removed decades ago. Ground covers, trees, flowering shrubs, paths. Little maintenance required. If food production became a consideration it would be pears, apples, figs & blueberries. With Tara Turf for greater pollination, increased yield.

Easy.

Food producing plants are great for the landscaping and the environment.
I was just pulling some weeds out of the patch of thyme in our garden and enjoying the fragrance. Even weeding can be enjoyable.
Go head and plant a blueberry or two in the same conditions that azaleas demand except blueberries go in the most sun you have. In a couple years you can be picking your own antioxidants.
I have PEACHES, apples, figs and blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, eggplant, basil, parsley, peppers, and I wish you could do a readers question like Joni once in a while?
Love your style!
