Fruit at the Front Gate

At my front gate

my apple orchard with H. 'Tardiva', above, and R. triloba, below.

In person the visible is a working class neighborhood of closely set homes each with green meatball foundation plantings and lawn.
.
Amongst this setting my apple orchard & flowers are outrageous.  A negative to neighbors.  And some who love me.
.
Go figure.  Gardening is subversive?
.
Merely following my heart towards the beauty it desires.

Eattible landscaping is a great idea.

Birds and bees are more important to keep happy than neighbors. Not to mention your own heart. You've stuck the perfect balance between order and chaos.

"My apple orchard & flowers are outrageous" - I know exactly what you mean. In my neighbourhood of tidy little gardens and acres of lawn, my jungle-like profusion of trees, vines and flowers is looked upon as weird.

They can't appreciate what they don't understand. Down with meatballs, up with apple orchards.

Complete heaven!!
Imagine what people from Newport Beach think of my garden!!

They came on a tour; and they were completely shocked! (polite, though!!)

We are just oddballs!!

Beautiful!
I'm curious to know what the white blooming shrub is, in the first photo. I see them everywhere now and thought they were oakleaf hydrangeas at first (but they don't have oaky leaves). Are they another type of hydrangea?

how fun for you to have a bounty in your yard. We have a small garden this year as well. Blackberry cobbler
has been a true treat this summer.
Golden delicious apples will be ready
soon-our first harvest. We also have
beans,cukes,canteloupes,watermelons,
peppers, tomatoes and pumpkins. I am
amazed how rewarding it is to walk out into the garden and pick something we have grown.
