Optimism

Cancer treatments had already taken her hair, and made the tips of her fingers & toes blue.  Walking was treacherous.

Hiring me to redesign her front yard, and install the ideas were a life lesson.

Near completion she asked, "How long till the azaleas cover the wall?"  "Well, with the drought......", began my reply before she interrupted, "Tara, we must be optimistic."

Wow, and thanks.

At our monthly garden club meeting today, when the local rosarian scheduled to be the speaker couldn't show because of the flu, we jumped into our fall-back program, a round table discussion. The topic": What garden, garden photo, garden book, or gardener inspired you this year.

My answer: Your blog, especially the concept of vanishing threshold.

At least one lady in the room already knew of your work.

Hi Tara!

I was called a "pollyanna" so many times it became annoying after I graduated; As an English Lit major; somehow; I never read about her.

So; I researched!

Instead of a criticism; I regard it a total compliment!

"Pollyanna" did not just sail through life thinking everything was 'rosy'" (which is what I thought!)

Actually; "Pollyanna" found the real positives in situations and' went for them!'"

So, I now know; being called a "Pollyanna" is achieving my goal in life!

What a wonderful thing!

As they say, life's not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain. Thank you for the reminder.

Lessons are all around us ... we just have to be still and accept them. Thanks for the reminder.
