Last year when I designed her landscape her kitchen was sheet rock. Last week, below, still unfinished it's already fabulous. Sheepishly, she said, "I know it's ridiculous but it makes me happy to look at my new chandeliers."
A wise observation. Over a decade ago, in Penny McHenry's garden, I realized the same thing about things that made me smile. Her garden, tastefully, had many.
Near my front door, above, the cat. I bought the cat for no other reason than it made me smile.
Go ahead, give yourself permission. Choose things that make you smile.

I love that kitchen!
I love your words of wisdom!
I photographed something for you this morning so stay tuned :)
That's why I chose you!
As an aside, I just noticed that the word verification below (to prove I am not a spambot) is "dorknest". LOL!
Cool. Our warming trend is going to make me smile as I look onto the courtyard, even if it gets interrupted for the 1st part of next week.
Your little cat made me smile too. The reflection off your chandelier is beautiful. I see patterns in shadows ... just an observation - I see things! lol
p.s. I think I'll buy myself some lace shoes too :)

* I can see WHY her chandies (beauuuuutiful!), AND the cat statue, make her happy n' give her a reason to just smile! (I feel the same about my huge cement dog statue AND a large, monkey-based cement end table on the patio... we N*E*E*D to indulge these "FUNSIES"~~~ they make OUR homes truly "OURS"!!!
Anyhoooo, simply CHARMING!!!! Many THANKS, as always!!!

P.S. What a SUPERB, RELAXING VIEW she gets to enjoy from her kitchen window!... Best again, Linda *
Those are great chandeliers! They would make me smile too. This is my decorating philosophy...buying and making what makes me smile. I talked a little about you on my blog today.
I always buy stuff that makes me smile - totally agree!
Love the look,
I would smile too. That is a wonderful kitchen.
