If it's beautiful in someone elses garden it will be beautiful, and original, in yours.

yes i agree tara. you can copy virtually everything you see in your neighbors garden and it will still look different in your own. amazing. i don't know where else this rule applies.

Oh my ~ Is that not why we look at others blogs ~ to get inspiration and to copy? I love what you and others share. Keep up the good work! 'hugs from afar'
I like your outlook!
Have you seen these photos?

nothing is original... but everything is reinvented in a new setting. :)
thank you for validating the idea of copying!
speaking of copying, i just started my own blog on gardens and outdoor living in laguna beach, california. not sure how to spread the word. if you want to check it out: www.lagunadirt.blogspot.com.
Where on earth have I been?!? I just discovered your incredible blog via Willow Decor.
I look forward to visiting and watching your gadren grow and change...oh yes gardens do change don't they...that's why we are here. I hope you'll stop by sometime.

Totally true! In landscaping and decorating!
Copy things that are wonderful!
No need to "reinvent the wheel"..of course, make it "your own"!
Why not duplicate "Villa Malcontenta" (or any Palladian villa?) if you can!! All the proportions are right!
Copy everything you adore! Nancy Lancaster did.....why not we???!!!
I forgot to say......I completely "knocked off" (means copy) David Easton's "bit hall" at "Balderbrae"; his divine beyond house in Suffern, New York. If I had been there when they started the floors...they would have been "on the diamond........"
I had the same size living room in Pasadena (to the inch)
I knew good proportion when I am in it.....so I copied that size (same as DAvid Easton's) and of course; the two fireplaces.......heaven. that is what it is!
Copy!!!!!
