Meadow vs Foundation Plantings

16 foot ceilings are the secret.

The house, I hope it's small, has surprised me.  When I find the right 5 acres, I will build it.

However, no green meatball foundation plantings for me.

Luxury is having your home set in a meadow.

Pleasure grounds flirting richly, unfolding a narrative.

Yes, let the house speak for itself, it doesn't need a necklace around it. Always trying to think how to do this out here, and often the edge of the house or building is where you put the walkway or just gravel mulch...plant beyond that where needed.

Yes, yes, I so agree w/you! Are there any meadow flowers that bloom in some pretty dense shade? I suppose not - - - that's not a meadow - - - but truly wish I could have that laid back, casual elegance that meadows provide.. . . with tree!

I would love to see that top house only in a meadow of tall grass -- but keep the black urn. Or how about this fixer-upper? http://enclosuretakerefuge.com/2012/11/05/vintage-landscape-beautiful-weeds/

You are right about the luxury of setting your home in a meadow. I have. And it is the begin all and end all of having it made. Some years back I bought 58 acres, 2 years ago I began building a log cabin. Now I sit on that front porch and thank God.

I could only wish that everyone could enjoy their own meadow.
