Why You Shouldn't Decorate With 'Cute'

"On the outskirts of agony sits some observant fellow who points." Virginia Woolf
When I NEED her words I don't need a cute stupid sign or focal point (cheap resin is particularly offensive, ha, expensive resin too) in the garden as I gaze out my windows.
I need beauty, strength & wisdom.
Upon a winter's day Providence laughs. Slowing me. Taking me away, for a few moments, into a realm of grace.
Away from the 'outskirts of agony' .
.
Closer to seeing the 'fellow who points'.

Pics taken at Pecan Orchard's garden this month. Ugh, straining to see the 'fellow who points'. Knowing I will when I let go.

  1. Does "cute" = "agony". So deep, so early in the AM, at least my time.

I'll have to ponder this post in the background today! Puppet Barbuda - Design Philosopher.

  2. I went back three months of posts, dear Tara. We need to talk.

First, watching the conservatory go up in a few minutes, rather then weeks... Beautiful and how exciting! I can picture you working there throughout the seasons. Congratulations, you are sooo good!!!

Second, the curved glass truck. Yes, please!

Third, I almost cried knowing I missed a party held in that beautiful milking barn. Let Miss Pecan Orchard know she has "fans" :0)

Lastly, the Italian smudge pot? My Grand Daddy was a citrus grower. I might have stayed in the family business if smudge pots were that sexy!

Thanks for the well wishes and alll the inspiration!

  3. I had a designer come to my house to measure for my couch - she said "cute" so many times I wanted to throw her out!
