Come this way, enter, welcome.
Miraculously, from the opposite direction the columns say the same thing.
.
No matter the size or budget of a garden, there are no exits. Only entries. And, the more entries a garden has the better the garden. With one of the most potent garden design tools in your quiver, contrasting formal-informal. Ceiling-walls-floors are also beautifully done, above, with great drama at the enfilade.
.
No, this is not a simple entry.

Of course I want the dimensions of how far apart the columns are, heights, etc....

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteScat, I know a fact about gardeners. Their IQ is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHowever, most garden writing is for an 8 year old.
Go thru any garden entry any direction and it's an entry. You are always going somewhere.
Enfilade of that entry in the pic is stunning, a view thru to a view. Would love to know when it was built!! And to see its opposite enfilade.
I adore the moments of epiphany walking with clients in their garden. Speaking accurately, and seeing the light bulbs flash like CRAZY !
Gardening is an intuitive language. Here, you will find it in words. Not selling you mow-blow-go-annuals 2x/year.
Personal favorite, husbands who did not want me hired. Within days, 'ask Tara'. They get it too.
Garden design is not voo-doo or feel good guessing. Total science with sprinkling of art.

Loved your elaboration to Scat, especially your 'personal favorite.'
ReplyDeleteThis picture made me stop, sigh, and gaze. Thank you.
what a fabulously beautiful entry! the photo is just as beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTara,
ReplyDeleteWell, that explains it! I've always known I'm but 5. Thank you.
I was having a conversation with another gardener just yesterday about entrances, and we talked about how from an entrance only glimpses of the garden should be visible, not the entire show. Today's photo is a perfect example. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd that business about formal and informal -- right on.
