ReplyDeleteTara, Does one need to worry about the vine damaging the brick or siding? I've often wanted to add vines to our house but have heard horror stories about damage to the structure underneath. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you! Love the blog!

Yes agree if the house is attractive enough to support it.....I love the use of gravel and vines, but Americans need tutoring! Smile

And to think, we in the SW already use plenty of gravel! So, we're half-way there. (just substitute a pickup for a Bentley, and plant species)
Not every house can have a vine !
ReplyDeleteHowever, espaliered woody shrubs are fine.
Don't know your zone, I like to use camellia, hydrangea, podocarpus....
No wire, no trellis, not much pruning.
Gotta love the Italians, it's where I saw espaliered blue mophead hydrangeas......
