Hedgerows in winter. Machine pruned, properly. No wonder they're beautiful in spring, summer and fall.

I ADORE THE BLEAK CHIC OF GOOD GARDENS IN WINTER.
I also love a well designed garden in the Winter for many reasons. It's kind of like the reset button has been pushed and the garden enters the first stage, which is rest. At this stage, I also get to relax and check in with the foundation of the garden without all of the wildness that is to come. I'm able to focus in and appreciate the less showy evergreens and how they relate to the entire design.
ReplyDeleteAlso, In the short Winter months, I enjoy a little rest from the demands and anxieties of my clients (whom I love, but a break is always nice).
Then there's the light which is incredibly soothing and magical to me for some reason.
